Origins of ECOSAL-UK

ECOSAL-UK was born out of an EU funded project called ECOSAL-ATLANTIS.
The three year project finished in 2013 and set out to create a Salt Route linking sites of Traditional salt Making along the Atlantic coast of Europe from Portugal to Scotland.
The UK section of the Atlantic Salt Route was researched by a team based at Bournemouth University who established ECOSAL-UK as a salt network to administer it and expand it to include inland sites and sites on the North Sea and Channel coasts of the UK.
Ecosal-UK was incorporated on 15 August, 2013 as a not for profit company limited by guarantee, registered in England No. 08652326. Founding directors are Andrew Fielding, Annelise Fielding, David Cranstone, Tom Lane and Brian Irving.
